A dog had a lucky was rescued by a Polish boat from an ice floe down Poland's Vistula River and into the Baltic Sea that had carried him at least 75 miles (120 kilometers.) At this moment, his seamen saviors are trying to find who this dog belongs to.

Until now, four people have claimed to be the dog Baltic's owner, but Baltic seemed not to confirm anyone. When it comes to the first two people, no signal was expressed by him to show who his owner was. Others were still on the way to come to for a possible reunion. However, if it is impossible to find Baltic's owner, research team will adopt him.

According to Researcher Natalia Drgas, seamen had been in difficulty to help the dog escape from the ice because at that time, Baltic seemed to be drowned. At first, he was though as a seal. But when they realized it was a dog, they made effort to rescue him.

A pontoon was lowered down to the water and a crew member tried to catch the scruff of his neck. Right after escaping from the frigid water, the crew immediately warmed him by wrapping him in blankets. And then, he was massaged and fed.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a firefighter in Grudziadz, on the Vistula River 60 miles (100 kilometers) inland from the Bay of Gdansk, told that the dog was discovered on Saturday floating on ice through the city. Although he managed to save him, it is impossible to come closer to the Baltic because of shifting ice sheets.

According to Veterinarian Aleksandra Lawniczak, Baltic was a friendly dog which had been got good treatment before getting lost. Beside that, with thick fur and a layer of fat, if it has enough water, Baltic is able to survive in such cold condition in 8 days.
